What People Are Saying About Blog School

Testimonials:

I’ve been blogging, off and on, since 2008; more off than on. In the weeks life did not hand me a topic about which to write, I turned to Blog School for my spark, and without exception, I emerged inspired and with the makings of a post.

Find Your Blogging Spark helped me understand the history of blogging, its iterations, and provided all sorts of technical tidbits, but mostly it reminded me my stories matter and I don’t need a million followers to justify publication. That I can claim “my little corner of the Internet,” where I can grow and change and make mistakes and write to find meaning. Start a conversation.—D.

I really enjoyed your blog course. I got lots of good ideas, some of which have already sparked some blogs and others of which are still percolating. —C.

Thank you so much for introducing me to blogging and giving me the courage to start my own blog. The group was so warm and encouraging… The blog modules were not only informative, they were just so enjoyable to read! Blog School made this September a lot brighter. —P.

I want to take a moment to somehow stitch into words my gratitude for this experience. It’s beyond the encouragement of why to blog, but it’s so much more than that. It’s confidence, it’s permission, it’s encouragement, its community, it’s love. —N.

Kerry’s Blog School was exactly what I needed. Having recently finished my PhD I wanted to keep writing and exploring ways of getting my ideas out more quickly than I am used to as an academic. This course was like a medicine for the hyper-critical and perfectionist parts of me that think a piece must be very well-research and very well thought out before it is put out there. I was able to overcome some of my resistances in this course. I would recommend this class especially for academic folks who are finishing up their PhDs. If you feel like you are stuck on parts of your writing, let Kerry’s approach to writing guide you back to what you enjoy and your writing, including your academic writing. After all, the more we write, the easier it becomes. Thank you Kerry for this great course. —Sara S.

Blog School was enriching in all sorts of ways. I no longer think of my blog as something I “really should do once I get it figured out” but as something that can grow and learn alongside me, in all kinds of wonderful and weird ways. Honestly, sitting down to write my posts has become the most enjoyable part of my week, and I put it all down to the courageous, kind, and just pure FUN approach to blogging that I learned from Kerry.
P.S. Oh, and if you want to stick it to the capitalist patriarchy, this is a great place to start! —Lindsay Hobbs

*

“Since I started your courses, my nonfiction has changed. It has become more confident. I don’t sit down to write and have this voice whispering, ‘Give up now….’”

*

“I want to work more on the kind of writing the blog course helped to inspire. I feel like I am going to places that often I’ve resisted before, personally, and I want to stay in that space.” —Miranda Hill

“Check out the Blog School offerings. Kerry Clare is a multi talent wonder. Without the weekly deadlines and the incredibly helpful feedback and guidance, I would have continued to only think about fleshing out my web site with a blog. It seemed unwieldy. Now it seems simple. Miraculously, I’ve overcome my fear of technology and figuring out Divi Builder and WordPress.” —Christy Ann Conlin

“Kerry is a phenomenal instructor who possess a genuine warmth and offers ongoing encouragement. After reading each student’s blog post, she provides a thorough and thoughtful response to motivate and inspire improvements – the little tweaks and finesses to make a blog post “pop”! I found Kerry’s powerful questions most relevant. She helped me work through who my audience is and help me dig deeper to find the strongest voice. I appreciated how, at times, we turned a couple blog posts upside down and in other situations were able to hone in on a single message when my blog posts were too expansive.

In the February 2020 online course, students were of all ages, stages of life and possessed varied interests. This allowed the reading process to be an enjoyable experience. Commenting on the work of others was as much fun as crafting my individual posts.

For anyone seeking to learn from scratch or develop a regular habit of writing blogs, I highly recommend working with Kerry.” —Lisa Bradburn

“I signed up for this course on a whim, after putting off the creation of my blog for months. I thought at the very least, it would force me to buy a domain name and create the website, but I had no idea just how deep it would inspire me to go in my own writing and self-discovery. After just one month my blog is up and running and exactly what I want it to be!” —Lauren DeRoller Derollercoaster.com

“I just wanted to pass along how much your workshop and talking with you meant to me. You gave me comfort in so much of what you said…. not being perfect, that your blog can be elastic (not having to narrow down to a ‘niche’), and that as long as you are doing it for joy you will continue…and hone your skills.” —Emily Prout, Arrow It Forward
